I’m a 60-year-old woman and, if I’m being completely honest, sex has pretty much disappeared from my life.
It isn’t because I stopped wanting it. That part of me is still very much alive. I just don’t have the opportunities anymore. No partner, no casual encounters, nobody showing up at my door, and at this age it sometimes feels like people assume you’re no longer interested in sex anyway.
So I masturbate. A lot more than I ever thought I would at 60.
Sometimes it feels a little sad that this is my only real outlet, but other times I’m grateful I still have that desire and can take care of it myself. I still fantasize, still get turned on, and still miss the feeling of being wanted by another person.
I guess my confession is that getting older didn’t make me stop wanting sex. It just made finding someone to have it with a whole lot harder.
